Ketchikan, Alaska
Ketchikan
is a small community of approx. 14,000 year round residents. Our city is located
on the western side of Revillagigedo Island, accessible only by plane or boat.
We average 170-180 inches of rainfall a year. Ketchikan is the 1st City when entering
Alaska’s inside passage.
If you are traveling here by plane you might like to know that it requires a short
ferry ride from Gravina Island, (where the airport is) to our Island. Ketchikan
is approximately 680 air miles north from Seattle. Our primary economy is based
on tourism, fishing and timber harvesting. Ketchikan is a very popular destination
and we will see an estimated 960,000 tourists in 2008.
